Rev. Dean Nelson

Reverend  Dean  Nelson is an executive leader with over 25 years of experience in ministry and non-profit work and over 15 years in political activism at the local, state, and national levels. As the co-founder for the Frederick Douglass Foundation (FDF), Reverend Nelson developed multiple leadership training opportunities for African Americans and other minorities. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Douglass Leadership Institute, which exists to educate, equip and empower faith-based leaders to embrace and apply Biblical principles in life and the marketplace, and as the National Outreach Director for Human Coalition, which is a prolife, non-profit organization.  Dean  is also the Senior Fellow for African American Affairs at the Family Research Council. 
 
Reverend Nelson is a graduate of the University of Virginia where he majored in Rhetoric and Communication. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Providence Foundation and the Virginia Christian Alliance. He is a graduate of Acton University, the Coverdell Leadership Institute and the United Way VIP Board Training Program.
 
Reverend Nelson is a licensed minister from Salem Baptist Church and an ordained pastor with Wellington Boone Ministries. He is married to the love of his life, Julia Nelson (Née Yim), his irreplaceable helpmeet who works as a freelance writer and homeschools their three children.
